Dressing the Bump

I’ve always loved classic pin-ups. To me, they exude a certain timeless beauty, strength, sassiness, and femininity that I think speaks to all women on some level. My outfit today has me feeling sexy, sassy, nautical and pin-up-esque for some reason (Minus the flat boots, of course, but bare legs and pin-up heels are not exactly appropriate business casual attire in the world of education.). Preggo pin-up? I don’t see why not. 😉

Strong

I don’t think there is anything worse, actually there are a few things I can think of but that’s beside the point, than a pregnant woman that completely lets herself go and uses pregnancy as an excuse to mow down on everything in sight, be a useless lump, and gain 90 lbs. This is the time when you should be the most health conscious of your life. So, here’s to staying fit and, more importantly, being healthy for my wee ones.

Can I just say I love being pregnant! The “bummers” of pregnancy like gaining weight, feeling like you need to carry a sick bag with you everywhere or know where the nearest restroom is at all times, and walking around all day feeling like you’ve strained your back (to name a few) are far outweighed by the simple fact that you are carrying a little life inside you (make that two little lives in my case!). And I don’t think there is anything wrong with celebrating this time and having some fun with it.

Dressing the Bump

This adorable shirt dress, paired with a cozy scarf and some neutral suede boots, was perfect for a rainy day like today. Belting the dress right above my budding bump not only highlights what I think is an adorable baby bump (because it’s mine of course) but also emphasizes the narrowest portion of my midsection. This allows me to celebrate being and looking pregnant without looking like I’m just one big, and soon to be even bigger, belly. Now, must remember not to stomp any puddles!

Green is my favorite color and I love this comfy sweater dress pictured below. As this dress hugged my lower body more than the dress above, belting around my bump was a fun way to break up the green and celebrate the belly.

Dressing the Bump

Surprise! My husband and I recently found out that we are expecting not one but two babies in October. I am showing very early and am determined to spend the remaining months of my pregnancy enjoying dressing my bump. I have a sneaking suspicion that dresses much like the one pictured below will become a bump staple due to pure comfort, ease, and the fact that you can’t go wrong with a good maxi.
